弗里斯科校园 Professor Mike Panahi and his students Itay Kadosh, Leydon Goble, and Aditya Vashishth attended the Eighteenth Annual Texas Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, 主持:Stephen F. 科林大学 volunteers worked with the city of McKinney to help remove trash from the area between Taylor Burke and 380 on the east side of McKinney校园 on Nov. 11. Eighty-nine students, faculty, staff, and community members removed more than 101 bags of trash and other large items. Organizers called the cleanup a great success and an excellent opportunity for faculty and students to engage in impactful community 服务. Thank you to everyone involved, with special appreciation going to Judi Wohead, Seema Endley, Susan Forshaw-Evans, Cathleen Akers, Alice Miank, and Gwen Miller. 的 campus looks forward to scheduling another cleanup in Spring 2024 on Earth Day or in conjunction with a City of McKinney event.

的 Public Safety Training Center partnered with the Allen police and fire departments for a debriefing ab出 the May 6 Allen Premium Outlets shooting on Nov. 13. 这个免费的 event targeted at first responders drew so much interest from local law enforcement and firefighting agencies that four additional sessions have been scheduled to serve the 300 people who signed up. In addition to municipal first responders from as far away as Fort Worth, the sessions also drew police department personnel from 的 University of Texas at Arlington, 的 University of Texas at Dallas, and University of North Texas and security personnel from other open-air malls. Subjects included the initial attack and response, historical training, integrated response, obstacles encountered, evacuation and searches, lessons learned, and more. 的 remaining four sessions will 将于十二月举行. 11-12.

Workforce coaches Kate Smith of 技术学校 and Deidra Carpenter from 威利校园 represented 科林大学 at the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (TACROA) Conference in Denton in late October. 的 pair presented “Successful Strategies in Workforce Coaching” at the conference.

弗里斯科校园 Mathematics Professor Connie Chan completed her Project ACCCESS fellowship with the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC), culminating in a presentation of her poster project investigating student awareness of learning resources in asynchronous web classes at the 2024 AMATYC annual conference in Omaha, 内布拉斯加州. Project ACCCESS is a mentoring and professional development initiative for faculty in their first years of teaching college mathematics.
